One of God's greatest agendas in your life is building your character so that you are more and more like Jesus. When we foster the attitude of gratitude, it changes and reshapes our character and informs the way we treat others and God. When we demonstrate gratitude to others, we are demonstrating a lifestyle that is worship to God.
Gratitude is like a skill, the more you express it, the better you are at it and the more you feel it. However, we also practice other things in our lives that are gratitude killers. If you struggle with gratitude, you might just be inadvertently killing it off because of other habits you have.
When someone blesses us with a gift or a gesture that means a lot, we often want to demonstrate our gratitude to them in a special way. We send thank you cards, reciprocate with a gift in kind, or verbally express our gratitude face to face. But how do we express our gratitude to God, who have given us everything and who needs nothing. What grand gesture could be possibly give that would somehow express our hearts rightly?
Faith means that we choose gratitude even before we have received anything from God. God has made many promises, and when we choose to put our faith in Him, we are making a statement that we believe that every promise is a "YES in Christ!" Choosing to have an attitude of gratitude is evidence of faith, and when we choose to be grateful, it transforms us in amazing ways.
